Pool
AFC 3-0 Howden Clough
After a sluggish start to the match against the bottom of the table strugglers, Pool responded
in style to complete a comfortable win. A spell of pressure saw a series of fine
saves from the Howden goalkeeper as Pool gradually took control, before a stinging long-range effort was spilled, allowing
Jordan to finish with ease. The
score remained one-nil at half time as Pool could not make their territorial advantage count for more.
Pool seemed intent on walking the ball into the net as good opportunities went to waste before
White scored with a glancing header from an in-swinging Ebdon free-kick to settle any nerves.
Pool created more than enough chances to settle the game before the game could have took on a different complexion
as Howden were awarded a penalty. Fortunately, the player stepped up only to
divert it handsomely wide. A second the of game for White after good work out
wide finally finished off the game, with Pool continuing their march up the table and leaving themselves only two points behind
the league leaders.

Pool
AFC 5-1 Whitkirk Wanderers
Prior to the match
this appeared to be a tough fixture for Pool and after playing the first ten minutes Pool knew they were in for a stern test. However, a quality display from the home side was too much for the visitors who were
simply blown away by an awesome and complete team performance.
It all started
from a precise long-throw from R Graham which Jordan cushioned for Ebdon to beautifully strike into the far side of the
net as the keeper could only stand and admire as it. An early contender for goal
of the season. A fortunate second followed when a Wagstaff cross was deflected
into his own net by a Whitkirk defender. Pool’s work rate and pressing
was further rewarded when Ebdon’s delicate through ball released Jordan who came up with a clinical left-foot finish. It was a spell of verve and confidence that was proving too hot to handle. Shortly before half-time Whitkirk pulled a goal back which meant the next goal was crucial.

The home side
appeared more determined and focused than the opposition in the second half, eager to make four wins on the spin. The defence stayed strong and serious throughout while a master class in attacking movement and finishing
led to a calmly taken second of the game for Jordan to make it 4-1. At this
stage the chances were flowing and Pool could have added more before White wrapped it up and piled more misery on Whitkirk. The fifth sealed a convincing win, with Pool looking strong both physically and technically. The team are functioning so well that afterwards the Pool management were talking
up their chances of winning the league.

Carlton 0-2
Pool AFC
Pool produced
a competent display away at Carlton to make it three wins in a row.
A lively start to the game saw M Jordan denied with a curling effort and further half-chances go begging for Pool. However, it was the opposition who came closest to scoring with an effort that clipped
the outside of the post in a rather subdued first half.
After the interval
Pool upped their level and started to take control of the game. With the Grahams
looking in command at the back, and Moran making some important tackles, Pool became more dominant which eventually saw them
take the lead. J Wagstaff intercepted a long ball, rolling it towards O’Donnel,
whose through ball was dummied by D Wagstaff leaving an on-rushing Holdsworth to finish superbly. Another quick and incisive passing move involving Ebdon and Jordan saw Hatzi being fouled in the box and
a penalty awarded. For the second time this season Pool had a penalty saved. At the other end Caine made one crucial save to maintain Pool’s advantage. The game was over soon afterwards though when Wagstaff raced on to a long ball to
emphatically drill a half-volley into the bottom corner and seal the game at 2-0. An
altogether assured performance.

Wetherby
Athletic 2-3 Pool AFC
Pool were barely off the A1 before they were 2 0 down. Two sloppy
defensive goals almost handed the game to Wetherby within the first ten minutes.
Once Pool caught up with the game they began to dominate. Nick
Hatz got one back for Pool before the half time break.
Pool came out for the second half with true determination. Dean
Wagstaff scored the equaliser and the winner for Pool. Pool dominated the second half not allowing Wetherby any time to settle
on the ball. Pools second half dominance may not be reflected in the score line but more in the fact that Michael Jordan had
four goals disallowed (all for offside).

Aberford 2-2 Pool AFC
A despondent Pool arrived
at Aberford as the point table did not reflect a fair summary. Manager Dennison galvanised the troops – who again were
forced into changes – Winterburn rolled back the years and appeared between the goal posts.
Pool got off to a very good
start with Dean Wagstaff scoring after 20 minutes – short of nothing Pool deserved with their dominance. A second goal
closely followed after good work from Hatzikonstantinou, Ebdon and Wagstaff (J) enabled Wagstaff (D) to cannon a ball of the
post into a helpless defender to cross the line.
Keeper Winterburn then made
a good save at the feet of Aberford number 9 – injuring himself in the process – stud to the back of the head.
Winterburn could do little about Aberford first goal after poor defending. The goal, just before half time could not have
come at a worst time for the visitors.
The second half was a scrappy
affair and the forth goal of the game could have gone either way. Mick Evans, Pool old boy, scored the equaliser with 15 minutes
left. Pool reaction was first class and dominated the remaining 15 mins and should have taken all 3 points. Hatzikonstantinou
had one cleared off the line and Joyce missed a penalty with 5 minutes to go. A strong feeling of 2 points dropped from Dennison’s
boys!

Caine in goal, Newsome due to chest pains was replaced by Rich and Dec was preferred to Wagstaff (J).
Pool quickly got into the
stride of the game but were met by a very determined Leeds City keeper
– who twice denied Wagstaff (D). Leeds City scored the only goal of the game just before half time with a well worked free-kick.
Pool continuned to dominate
in the second half but could not find an equaliser.

Beeston 3-0
Pool AFC
Pool arrived at Beeston full
of hope for the new season, new signing of Nicholas Hatzikonstantinou and Andy Caine (keeper) bolster the squad.
With not much playing time
for the team due to other commitments during pre season found themselves 2 down before half time. The third goal of the game
was crucial and could have gone either way but unfortunately for Pool is was Beeston which cam away with a 3 – 0 victory.
Pool competed
and showed that with more game time amongst themselves they will be able to compete with the title contenders.

Fields
AFC 0-1 Pool
Pool
traveled to Fields Sports on Wednesday evening to try and upset Field promotion hopes. Past results between these two sides guaranteed an entertaining match. Fields players and manager did nothing but moan about every referee's decision
where Pool just kept their heads and battled well. In the 28th Minutes Matthew White put Pool in front with a thunderous
strike from outside the box. The top spin and power prevented the keeper pushing it over the bar and with that being the only
goalorf the match, Pool took another 3 points to add to their tally.

Whitkirk
Wonderers 2-2 Pool
Pool
traveled to Whitkirk hoping to continue creeping up the league table but had to battle hard after being reduced to 10 men
after the referee deceided that a perfectly hard timed tackle was a dangerous one. Skipper Andy Graham saw the red card appear
from the officials pocket and could not believe his eyes. Pool managed to hold on for a 2-2 draw.

drop zone.

Sherburn
White Rose 1-0 Pool
Pool were denied
any points that they deserved at the weekend with a shocking decision by an official. Talk about spoiling a good game!. A
young linesman running the top side of the pitch missed a blatant off side which caused an eruption. Then to top things off
he then flagged 20 yards away from the corner flag that he was running towards, to indicate that a hooked clearance off the
line from defender Paul Wilkinson had actually gone over the line! The referee gave the goal and that was that. Hard lines
Pool.
